The Journal of Betty Parris

Today I am Betty Parris and I am covering pages 20-30
Dear Journal,
Today I saw the desperate Abigail try to gain my fathers love back with persuasive words. He doesn’t give in, but he feels her pain. “ I have sense for heat, john, and yours has drawn me to my window, and I have seen you looking up, burning in your loneliness.” I listened to them until I heard the words of Jesus, I couldn’t take it so I covered my ears to stop the pain. Parris and Mrs. Putnam and Mr. Putnam enter the room to see what is happening. Soon enough my room is filled with most of the town including Rebecca and Giles. Rebecca points her finger at me and says “That is a notorious sign of witchcraft afoot,” There was not much for me to say but what I said was more of a sound, I would scream when I heard the lords name, or the words of Jesus. The things people said about me were that I was being possessed by witchcraft, and that I was going to fly. Also they say I will become better over time, I just need everyone to be there for me. One thing I wish I had said would have been for everyone to leave me to rest, and to not preach the lords words in my range. I bet tomorrow Rebecca will be accused of doing this to me because she is a healer, and she was also caught alongside me. (JR)
